I was at a ribbon-cutting for a new work location last week when a colleague I’ve known for a couple of years asked me one of those questions that always feels like a setup:
“Hey, don’t you own Shred 27?”
…Maybe? I said cautiously while looking over my shoulder.
We laughed, but then she explained why she asked. She lives in Folsom and has been going to a boot camp closer to her home. The problem? She works in Roseville, and the commute back and forth was eating up her time. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to work out. She just couldn’t make the logistics work.
So she started searching for gyms near her workplace instead. Guess who popped up on Google? Yep, Shred 27.
(Side note: still not sure how she connected those dots to me being the owner in a random conversation, but hey I’ll take it.)
We talked more, and now she’s probably going to start training with us. Not because it’s the closest to her house, but because it’s the closest to her life. It fits into the one piece of her puzzle that had been holding her back: time and convenience.
And that conversation was such a good reminder of something I tell women all the time:
Fitness Has to Fit You
Your fitness journey isn’t supposed to look like anyone else’s. There’s no cookie-cutter diet, no one-size-fits-all workout program, no “perfect” morning routine that magically works for everyone.
What works for you depends on your schedule, your body, your goals, and your season of life.
And sometimes, it comes down to something as simple as… where the heck is the gym?
I meet so many women in Rocklin, Roseville, Lincoln, and Folsom who are motivated to get stronger and feel better, but they struggle with the time piece. Between work, kids, and family obligations, it’s not about finding any gym. It’s about finding one that actually fits into their day.
That’s why women’s fitness isn’t just about workouts. It’s about making the whole experience accessible and realistic. Because let’s be honest: if the gym feels like another full-time job, you won’t stick with it.
Ask Yourself: What’s Really Holding You Back?
If you’re not working out consistently right now, stop and ask yourself why.
-
Is it location?
-
Is it convenience?
-
Is it the time commitment?
-
Or is it that the style of training doesn’t actually fit what you need right now?
Sometimes, the answer isn’t a new strategy or more discipline. Sometimes it’s simply a new spot. A place that works with your life instead of against it.
That was exactly the case for my colleague. She didn’t need a brand-new plan. She just needed a gym that lined up with her work and life schedule.
Could Shred 27 Be That Spot for You?
