Fill out the form to get started

It’s January, and you’re probably ready to tackle the New Year with fresh resolve. Is this finally the year you knock off those 20 pounds for good? It absolutely can be, but not with vague resolutions or crash diets. To make this year different, you need a plan. A real, sustainable plan.
One thing I know for sure: restrictive January diets will always fail if you think they start and end with an initial push. Success lies in developing a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationship with food.
Why Resolutions Alone Don’t Work
Be honest: is this the first time you’ve promised yourself, “This is my year”? Maybe you even started with a formal diet like Weight Watchers, Noom, or South Beach. And perhaps, at first, you saw results. But over time, the weight crept back, and you found yourself starting over again.
Why? Because those diets didn’t address the underlying issues. The motivation fizzled, and old habits reclaimed their spot in your daily life. If you want lasting results, you need to tackle the root cause—your habits, emotions, and environment.
5 Ways to Start Making Real Change
Ready to make this year the last year you resolve to lose those same 20 pounds? Start with these actionable steps:
- What Does Your Food Say About You?
Take a moment to reflect on your food choices. Do they align with your values or goals? Are you eating to fuel your body or for comfort? Recognizing patterns is the first step to change. - The Comfort Food Swap
Identify one food you turn to for comfort and swap it for a healthier alternative. For instance, I replaced ice cream with Greek yogurt topped with fruit, protein powder, and granola. It satisfies my sweet tooth and supports my goals. - Set Your Kitchen Up for Success
Out of sight, out of mind. If certain foods derail your efforts, remove them from your home. If they’re not available, you can’t eat them. Stock your pantry with nourishing options instead. - The 1% Change
Focus on making a single small change. Add a glass of water with each meal or include one extra vegetable at dinner. Small, consistent changes compound into big results over time. - What’s in My Grocery Cart?
Next time you’re grocery shopping, take a moment to assess your cart. Are the items nourishing your body or just filling space? Put back the processed snacks and focus on whole, nutrient-dense foods.
Start Small for Lasting Success
Don’t overwhelm yourself by trying to implement all these tips at once. Pick one and focus on it. Small, steady steps are the key to big changes. This year, make your resolution about understanding the deeper issues behind your weight instead of just the weight itself.
