The Real Reason Your Fitness Progress Stalls (And What to Do About It)

Most mornings, when I sit down with my journal, I end up circling the same question:

What am I missing?

For years, I chased mentorships, programs, and “secret” business strategies convinced that somewhere out there was a shortcut. The right expert. The right group. The right insider formula. I thought that if I just found the missing piece, everything would snap into place.

Sound familiar?

Because this isn’t just a business problem.
It’s a health and fitness problem too.

The big promise we all fall for, whether in business or in weight loss, is simple:

Buy speed. Skip the struggle. Avoid the messy parts.

Except… that’s not how real change works.

Yes, the mentors I hired helped me move faster. But none of them erased the discomfort, the uncertainty, or the parts where I had to look at my own patterns honestly. I still made mistakes. I still had setbacks. I still had moments where I wanted to quit.

And that’s when I realized the real issue:

The problem wasn’t a lack of information.

The problem was that I kept trying to skip the uncomfortable parts.

Health works the exact same way.

Most women already know plenty: drink more water, move consistently, eat whole foods, sleep more, manage stress, stop skipping meals, etc. Knowledge isn’t usually the missing piece.

The real sticking points are things like:

  • Doing it alone
  • Trying to be perfect
  • Starting over every Monday
  • Avoiding accountability because it feels uncomfortable
  • Hiding the real struggle behind “I just need more motivation”

Here’s the truth people don’t like hearing (but need to):

A coach can’t remove the discomfort.

They can’t hand you a hack that makes change feel effortless.

You’ll still have off days.
You’ll still stumble.
You’ll still run into that one habit that keeps tripping you up.

But a good coach gives you something far more valuable:
Space, support, structure, and someone who helps you slow down long enough to see what’s actually holding you back.

When you have that, the path forward becomes clear. Not easy. Clear.

And clarity is what leads to consistency.

So here’s one simple action step you can take today:

Identify the real thing you’re struggling with.

Not the polished version.
Not the “I just need to eat better” version.
The real thing.

  • Is it consistency?
  • Stress eating?
  • Starting strong and then losing steam?
  • Feeling intimidated in the gym?
  • Or is it something deeper like believing you need to figure it out alone?

Whatever comes up, start there.

And if you want a little help sorting through it, someone to ask the right questions instead of handing you another plan you’ll never follow, you don’t have to figure it out on your own.
