Eat the Frog and Win the Day

frog

On my walk with the kids last night, we passed a pond where the bullfrogs were really letting loose. I’m talking full frog choir mode.

Which made me think… we should probably talk about frogs.

Not the cute little ones on lily pads.
I’m talking about the big, ugly, slimy kind. The metaphorical frogs that live on your to-do list.

What’s a “Frog” Anyway?

A “frog” is that one task you keep avoiding.
The workout you keep rescheduling.
The fridge full of groceries you haven’t prepped.
The laundry pile that now has its own zip code.

These are the things you don’t want to do, but deep down, you know if you just did them first thing, the rest of your day would be smoother.

This concept comes from a great little book called Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy.
TL;DR: Tackle your hardest task early in the day.
Once that frog is down, everything else feels easier.

It’s weird, but it works.

Why This Works (Especially for Women Balancing All the Things)

In our Rocklin women’s fitness community, I see it every day:
Busy women juggling kids, careers, family, and expectations.
A lot of my clients tell me they want to eat better, move more, and feel stronger, but doubt creeps in fast.

“Will I even have time to work out?”
“Should I wait until life slows down?”
“What if I can’t keep up?”

That kind of thinking? It’s just fear of something that hasn’t even happened yet.
And fear loves to grow in the silence of procrastination.

But action? Action builds confidence.
That’s why eating your frog early in the day works so well. It shuts fear up before it has a chance to start talking.

Today’s Tip: Eat the Frog Before Breakfast

Here are a few simple frog-eating wins:

  • Do your workout before your inbox wakes up. (We run 5 AM HIIT classes at our women’s gym in Rocklin for this exact reason.)

  • Chop your veggies while your coffee brews. Ten minutes of prep = way fewer bad food choices later.

  • Plan your week on Sunday night. Future You will thank you.

And if your frog is just walking in the door of a gym? We get that, too. A lot of women in our community haven’t worked out in years. You’re not alone. And you’re welcome here.

You Don’t Have to Win the Whole Day

You just have to win the start of it.
Eat the frog. Smile a little. Move your body.
Then go on your way.
